HURLOCK, Md.Hurlock is considering adding paintball guns to the Eastern Shore town's list of banned weapons. In response we have sent the following email to Charles T. Cephas - Council Member - District 4

Your Honor Charles T. Cephas,
This letter is being sent on behalf of our members at the World
Paintball Union. We are writing to you in response to a proposed ban
of paintball markers submitted by Joyce A. Spratt - Council Member -
District 3. Not only is this a big mistake, it profiles that all of
the people that play paintball as deviants. This is not the case in
fact less than 5% of the people that own paintball markers use them in
illegal, and in malicious ways. We are asking that you do what is
ever is in your power to stop this ban.

We see the need to ban BB guns, and brass knuckles as there is
no sport that utilizes either one of those items but paintball is a
legitimate sport that is played from recreational players all the way
to the professional level. We also support a ban on the discharge of
paintball markers with in the town limits on non-insured, non-zoned
fields. We strongly oppose a ban on the marker its self.
Banning markers would be devastating to the community as there is an
estimated 10.4 million people who play paintball in the US and that
number only rises.

Not only is paintball a sport, it is a sport that promotes charity
more than any other sport I have ever seen. Almost every outlet of
the sport does something for charity through out the year. Wither it
is a pro team, a recreational team of a local field.

When you look at paintball as a sport, and not just kids with a gun
you, will see that our paintball markers are like our bats, and just
like in baseball if you take a way the bats you will destroy baseball
for all the community people who enjoy it. If you do a google news
search for baseball bat you will find about 13,000 listing and almost
all of them are about baseball bats being used maliciously, however
if you do a google news search for paintball gun you will find about
125 listings.

Please help us stop Joyce A. Spratt - Council Member - District 3 from
making a huge mistake that can take the enjoyment away from millions
fathers and sons, and in a lot of cases mothers and daughters.

Please pass this email along to every one you know and help us spread
that word that paintball and the players are not bad, but just like in
every walk in life you will have bad apples that abuse anything they
have.

Thank you for taking your time to read this

recreational players.

We do not condone any misuse of paintball markers, or paintballs them
self and hope that people that do get prosecuted to the fullest extent
