I know a lot of us see paintball in many movies and tv shows. We always see something and say "i know that mask" or "i know that marker". I can even count how many times Ive seen it.
But sadly every time I do see it, it's never done safely! The show "Big bang theory" shows it the safest with the actors at least wearing goggles, thou they have been modified and are not safe..
I have just seen a new preview trailer for a movie called "aliens in the attic". in this a kid is running around with a marker with some stupid kit on it, an apex and a hopper. shooting at some CG aliens.
For christ sake! there are no masks on anyone. and what is this going to show younger kids? if they think they see and alien they should shoot it with dads marker?

as you can see the spyder fasta hopper and kinda apex, the marker is yet to be seen. i couldnt fing the trailer i saw on tv, this was from youtube
Since this is really pissing me off!!!! I have wrote a nice email to the writers guild to start tracking down people so that we can put a stop to this idiocy. dont worry, i am being nice about this.
so if you guys want, write a list of shows and movies on here that show markers in a bad way.
according to jim - removed masks
big bang theory - altered masks
pledge this! - paris hilton uses multiple pmi pistols without goggles against unknown people
failure to launch - matt and jessica on field without masks
man of the year - removed masks
paintball (2009) - constant safety issues http://www.paintballthemovie.com/#/home
Reba - waving a full marker around in peoples face.

While this is a noble endeavor it won't come to much even with EVERY paintballer behind it. The writers guild won't have the ability to make changes anyway. It's all the Producers/Directors doing. Simply put, they feel that the watching audience MUST see the actors face. They will also claim that they take precautions, no real paint or air in the marker, etc.

But if a petition were drawn up I'd gladly sign it.

Indeed I would as well. Honestly, this won't stop, as Puzuma said above, they feel you NEED to see the actors face, regardless of safety. I would like paintball to get a good view, but that won't really happen with movies and TV, however we can try, if it becomes more mainstream and the rules well known, that would be good.

I am a producer, and we created an hour long show from HD footage we filmed at West Point's spring 2009 scenario. I can assure you, this was a live game, (I personally XOed for the Axis) and not once on the field is a single person depicted without a mask. In fact, I bought brand new Profilers and insisted every member of the crew wore one when on field as well.
